The design approach focuses on massing, material direction, spatial experience and feasibility, giving the client a strong foundation for the next stage of development.
The concept can progress into technical drawings, approvals, cost planning and site delivery once the client is ready to move from vision to build.
The concept gives the client a stronger basis for budgeting, approvals and future design development.
Clarify the commercial and spatial potential of Dalaal House Concept before committing to a full construction pathway.
Architecture + Interior Design + Visualisation
Project Notes
This commercial development concept along the Kenyan Coast draws inspiration from traditional Swahili architecture while integrating contemporary commercial spaces. The design embraces the coastal climate through shaded balconies, screened facades, and generous openings that promote natural ventilation and reduce heat gain.
The building features layered verandas, decorative lattice screens, and arched openings that create both visual identity and functional shading. These elements enhance comfort for occupants while maintaining a strong architectural character rooted in the region’s heritage. The upper-level terraces and balconies provide flexible commercial spaces suitable for offices, cafés, or boutique retail.
At street level, the development is designed to encourage pedestrian activity, with sheltered walkways and active frontage that support small businesses and social interaction. Material selection focuses on textured plaster finishes, patterned screens, and warm lighting to create a welcoming atmosphere, particularly during evening hours.
The result is a commercial building that respects local architectural traditions while delivering modern, practical spaces suited for business, hospitality, and community engagement along the Kenyan coast.
